New performance of my blog

It seems my blog has other performance. Actually I don't want to add another story to my blog. The last edition was to show or to announce about the birth of my first son, Ghia. I wanted to stop until that part of the whole story. I didn't want to change his beautiful picture with another pictures. However I realized that live is still going on and the 'dynamics' is the key word how my blog has to be continued with another story. So, I changed my mind, I promise myself to renew my blog more often. You will be the witnesses how it goes. Perhaps the changing that will happen only the main stream of the blog. I think most of them is talking about Ghia. Please don't get bored to read about him.
see you and thank you to become my place of sharing.
best regards,
Babab

Xa Lie, Muslim from China

I met her in the bus (Greyhound coach) when I had traveling from Canberra to Albury on Monday, 9 April 2007. She is Chinese from Hui ethnic group (sorry, I don’t know how to spell it correctly), and she traveled alone. What make me surprise that she is Muslim. Yes, she is Muslim. I rarely meet Muslim from China, ups yes… I met one man during the youth camp in Jervis Bay; he studies at ANU, but he grown up here, in Australia. Xa Lie is doing research at University of Melbourne, one year research. She is a medical doctor, specialization in eyes.

We were talking many subjects. One of it is about food in Australia. As a Muslim, we find the same difficulties, finding the ‘no pork’ food in our diet. It is easy to differ between pork and other meat such as chicken, beef and lamb, we just read the label. However, many Muslims always raise question such as is it slaughtered in the name of Allah? Is it slaughtered in a good manner? When it is being slaughtered, it is not mix with pig? And so on. Furthermore, emulsifiers (sort of thing that mix in the food as one of the ingredients) make us confused. For example, some people said that emulsifier 471 is made from vegetables, but some people said that it is made from animal fat, so it is haram as well. What was Xa Lie’s opinion on aforementioned confusion, she said that there is a Chinese proverb; it says that if you do not see, it means that it is clean. In addition, she said that as long as no pork in our diet, it is acceptable. In my opinion, I will agree with her opinion. What do you think?

Indang Dance and Poco-poco at Univ of Canberra

Canberra, 4 April 2007

Dear all,

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.,

Weleh .. seumur-umur belon pernah nari .. sekali nari kok di
umur-umur segini .. tapi .. fun juga sih .. dimana ayo narinya ...
jauh lho .. di University of Canberra, 21 Maret 2007. For you,

here is the story (walau terlambat, ga apa-apa yo):

21 March 2007 is the Harmony Day, the United Nations Day to
celebrate/commemorate the end of racisme in the world.
For that moment, as the member of UC clubs, University of
Canberra Indonesian Student Society (UCISS) took a part
actively. We performed two dances and one song. Indang Dance

(form West Sumatera), Poco-poco dance (from Sulawesi Island)
and Yamko Rambe Yamko (Song from Papua Province).
Amazingly, nobody is a real dancer, and we have only a courage to
do it (Nike said: 'just do it'). We had been practising just for
around 2,5 weeks, three days per week. Ismail (student - master
program from Aceh) taught Indang dance and myself taught Poco
Poco dance (I only learnt poco-poco in the office, in Makassar).
Surprisingly, our performance was very successful. We received
many compliments. Many people said that our performance was
the highlight of the Harmony Day 2007, and Leonie (Director of
UC Harmony) added that our best achievement was we could
ask the UC Vice Chancellor (Rektornya) to up and dancing
together with the dancers and all audiences. This event was also

attended by the Representative of UN in Australia and Indonesian
Education and Culture Atache. We could not draw how happy we

were. We did it! Yes!!!
We've got two certificate of appreciation, one from UC and one from Embassy of RI.
Now we are very optimistic, we are ready to participate on other
similar events (wah .. nantang nih ye ...). Do you believe that we have received the invitation again from the university to perform in May and September ... We have discussed and we are agree to perform another dance from all over Indonesia (gaya euy, siapa yang nglatih ya .. he .. he ....), and the next dance should be Saman dance, from Aceh. Ups ... I forgot to tell you that the theme of the Harmony Day 2007 is 'bringing the world together' and .. our performance was parralled with the theme and our philosophy: unity in diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika) ...
See you guys,
wassalam,

Trash and Treasurer Rotary Club di Canberra (Sunday Market)

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.,
Hai .. see you again,
for all readers, here I would like to tell you about one Rotary Club activity in Canberra City. The activity is namely Trash and Treasurer whose place is in Jamison park square, Macquerrie, Canberra. It is held every sunday, since 6.00 am - 12.00 pm. So, the situation is as follows (based on experience - 18 Feb 2007):
- Everyone who wants to enter the area should donate (I prefer to
say that rather than pay) money $ 0.20 (20 cents). Look at the
second picture, there is one rotarian who guards the donation
box (red container). People who enter the area should pass on
this way. I asked the rotarian on duty at that moment, she said
that the donation money is used for other club social activity. I
forget to ask but I am sure the seller there also pay some money
to the club so they can have space inside the area.
- Rotary Club Van is provided for rotarian's and club's stuffs.
They can use it also as a shelter on the break time. (see the
third picture). The van parks inside the area.
- Inside the area. there are a lot of items can be found such as
new and second hand items (clothes, shoes, electronics, house-
houlds, DVDs, paintings, books, magazines, computers, laptops,
arts, souvenirs, bicycles, helmets, etc), flowers, vegetables,
fruits, and other stuffs that might attract you to buy. It is very
interesting. New situation for me, and it is indeed making people
to visit the market. Based on many informations, many of the
items in the area are being sold in not expensive price. Do you
believe if I tell you that in sunday market I have bought the
second hand radio-cassetes-CD only for $ 10? In good condition
of course. (see the fourth picture, please). Sometimes, we can
find that the price is not fixed price, you can even bargain the
price. You can find here also the seller who sell a kind of garage
sale system with.
- After 12.00 am, the sunday market finish and back to its
function as a car parking area. In my mind, this is a good
example and perhaps there is any rotary club in Indonesia
could immitate this sunday market event. Many advantages,
for Rotary Club, for the sellers, and for the buyers. So, why not start thinking of it?

Bye the way, Why I wrote rotary activity, because as a rotarian I want to share to other rotarian who read this article and hope will inspire them to have more rotarian activities.
That's all for now guys,
cheers and wassalam,

7 bulanan Ghia

Assalamualaikum wr. wb.

Kalau ga dipake istilah penyambung, alias nickname, gimana nyebutnya dong, .. apa si anu .. apa si ... dia .. atau 'it' atau apalah .. so, just to make it easy ... jadi sekarang udah tau ya .. kenapa nama blog ini 'Bababna Ghia' artinya, Bapaknya Ghia, karena yang create blog ini ..

Nah terus, at the same time, mau ada pengajian rutin di UC, koordinatornya mas Firry, langsung aja deh nanya, bisa ga sekalian mau minta di doain tuh sama temen2 sesama perantauan or colleague or whatever, yang aku kenal di kampus.

(non Indonesianya): Viengxay (laos), Ahmad (maladewa), Muhammad (mesir), Arnold (belanda), Jennifer (aussie), Raad (bangladesh), Abi (india), Nabil (bahrain), siapa lagi ya .. kaya'nya udah semua deh ...

wassalam,
Babab
